Futuristic and fashion-forward, Alexandre’s Fall/Winter 2008 collection threw conservatism and traditionalism to the wayside and entered a world of fashion fantasy. He assimilated menswear through square tailoring, dresses with bubble silhouettes, thick wools and heavy shapes into his ready-to-wear women’s collection for a sexually ambiguous yet striking imaginative collection.
Drawing inspiration from geometrics and mathematics, his pieces where constructed like mini-architectural designs. From jumpsuits, dresses, skirts, tops and boxy pants, Herchovitch’s collection inspires every woman to bring out her inner strength and fierce femininity. He used silk draping, t-shirt motifs, rectangular and triangular forms, solid colors, and blocky-patterns to tell his story of the modern woman.
His show had a long runway shaped as a U in order to optimize viewing time and dramatic effect. The models strutted out and then rounded the runway for one continuous walk. He brilliantly was able to double the front rows and show the pieces for twice as long with alternative techno music blasting in the background.
